year 2050 - how can humanity survive?

So here i am looking at the world right now, where people work for a living with their intellectual strength and go through life with small changes in their lifestyle and prospects. It all seems like a dream that humanity has dreamt for thousands of years. Every man has a job to do and a living he can afford, not every human in the world but atleast half the world population. It all seems like its going the right way and looks like it can only get better. But is that so?

I keep thinking... for all the changes the world has gone though in the past half century and the pace of development of technology, a job that needed hundreds of people now needs a few men monitoring machines do that work. The machines have taken over to an extent already. But believe it or not, more is coming.

With all the recent work on artificial intelligence and research and development into advanced mechanical systems, with miniaturization of all mechanical systems, its not too far-fetched to think, the combination of those two would be a killer humanoid robot. Probably able to do most of the work that we would and could do. This would basically rid us of most of the manual labor in this world. Secretary to keep track of my daily life, a robot could do that. Working on a manufacturing line, it can do that. Ok, take a step ahead. Any piece of work a human mind can do which follows a preconceived though flow, can be done efficiently by an artificial intelligent humanoid.

So now lets think the pros. A large troop of humanoid robots working together with a large power source like a solar farm and access of a large amount of material , hopefully from a large recycling plant which can recycle every form of material we use in our daily life, it can do any thing. It can build large structures, infrastructure, grow ungodly amounts of food for the whole of the human population, can clean up the entire world of all the pollution and crap that we have put into it for the past centuries. It can facilitate any change in structure of society and development of a new form of workforce that is always readily available for humanity for any good deed that it can dream of. There is no end for its prospects. It can even achieve the always *** of space exploration where the humanoids would scour the universe for livable planets where the humans could reside on. Everything would be so good, don't you think?

Ya, every thing seems so. But everything falls apart when you think of the world in its present state. We live in a world where every one and every institution believes that the society as we know it would stay the same with minor changes and every thing would be just fine. But they don't see the inconceivable  change that humanity is gonna go through in the next few decades. There is no way a world in this form would be able to provide employment and career opportunities for the then 10 billion people in this planet in 2050.

Look at this this way, the industry which employs the most in this world right now to a large extent is service, entertainment, sales, management and physical labor including farming, which all can be replaced by present day software tools, advanced AI and advanced robotics available in the market. To a smaller extent, in the arena of research and development in technology, engineering and other complex services which can be accomplished by completely conscious AI which can be undoubtedly achieved in 20 years. So in this case, what does the 9.999 billion people have to do in this world to make a decent living? Frankly almost nothing. We would have a world where we can do everything with out needing any human work force to do it. So what do you think the world would look like then? Sounds very apocalyptic doesn't it? Yeah i feel the same now.

If you agree with every thing i have said until now, I hope you would agree that trying to not achieve the technological development that leads to that scenario is not a answer and that advancement is unstoppable.

So i guess i gotta ask you one thing. How can humanity survive in 2050?
